Ostrava is an industrial and business centre.
Ostrava is the third largest city of our country after Prague and Brno. It came into existence by the incorporation of 34 originally independent communities. Today it is a typical industrial centre.
The main landmark is the New Town Hall (1920) with unique 85 m glass tower (the highest town hall tower in the Czech Republic). The other historical sights include Romanesque Church of St.Wenceslas, wooden timberframe Church of St.Catherine, Old Town Hall from 16th century, Neo-Renaissance Cathedral from 19th century and Michael Mine - technical monument where the exhibition of mining history is situated.
The culture experiences are offered by The Ostrava District Museum, The Antonin Dvorak Theatre, The Ostrava House of Culture (Czech paintings from 19th century), Puppet Theatre etc.
The city of Ostrava is suitable for those who want to acquaint with a large industrial town or to do business in this part of the Czech Republic.
