Vimperk The city on an old trading route with salt.

Vimperk is a historical city with beautiful old buildings and some wooden houses. The city lies at the old trading route from Bavaria to Bohemia like Prachatice. This medieval route was the main route for the transportation of salt.
The city walls of Vimperk are from the 15th century and are partly kept, including one of the old towers. Above the city dominates a majestic which is now used as the municipal museum. The original Gothic castle from the 13th century was first in Renaissance style and later, in 1734, in Baroque style reconstructed. The beautiful Renaissance palace is still present in its original state.
In the Gothic Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary you can see a famous Madonna statue. The interior of the church is decorated with frescos.
