Birthplace of the famous composer Bedrich Smetana.
The East Bohemian town of Litomysl is one of the most charming Czech towns with a valuable historical heart. On the elongated square, which is one of the largest in the Czech Republic, you can see rows of Renaissance and baroque houses, many with arcades and vaulted ground floor rooms (like in Telc).
The dominant feature of Litomysl is the monumental Renaissance chateau dating from the years 1568 - 1581. The chateau was entered in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Litomysl is also known as a birthplace of the famous composer Bedrich Smetana.
